As a Senior Backup & Storage Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of backup and storage systems. You will support both daily operations and project-driven initiatives, contributing to system architecture, deployment, and ongoing maintenance in a dynamic, mission-critical environment.
Your Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
- Provision, install, configure, and maintain datacentre hardware and software
- Support the transition of new services into operations
- Conduct preventive maintenance and system updates
Infrastructure Innovation
- Participate in technical R&D efforts for system enhancement
- Define architecture standards and reference configurations
- Manage hardware lifecycle, from deployment to secure decommissioning
Monitoring & Support
- Monitor system health, performance, and backups
- Respond to incidents and service requests via ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow)
- Perform root cause analysis and draft status reports
Service & Compliance
- Define and enforce storage and backup policies
- Configure and maintain SAN zoning and port security
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses
Tech Stack You May Work With
Familiarity with the following tools is a strong advantage:
- Commvault, HYCU
- SAN (Brocade)
- Storage platforms (Hitachi)
- CMDB management and secure data disposal
Who You Are
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in Backup & Storage roles in large-scale environments
- Strong grasp of enterprise infrastructure concepts and best practices
- Independent, structured, and process-driven professional
- Fluent in English (B2+); additional European languages are a plus
- Open to working in an on-call or shift-based rotation
- EU citizenship required due to project constraints
