Automation Engineer

As a Senior Automation Expert, you will design, build, and evolve advanced automation solutions across our IT Operations landscape. You will play a key role in integrating ServiceNow, monitoring platforms, infrastructure systems, and observability stacks to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and service quality.

This role requires deep technical expertise, architecture-level thinking, and a strong focus on automation, auto‑remediation, data correlation, and ITOM best practices. Acting as a technical lead, you will collaborate closely with infrastructure, cloud, SRE, and operations teams while mentoring engineering peers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of automation and auto-remediation solutions across IT Operations.
  • Collect CMDB CI data, attributes, and ticket information (Incident, Request, Problem, Change) via ServiceNow APIs.
  • Own and optimize ServiceNow ITOM capabilities, including Discovery, Service Mapping, and Event Management.
  • Define and implement event correlation rules and operational control mechanisms.
  • Interact with CMDB and ticketing workflows to update, enrich, and maintain data quality.
  • Integrate data from both on‑premise and cloud infrastructure platforms.
  • Build and maintain health checks, analytics, KPIs, and operational reporting dashboards.
  • Transform, normalize, and enrich data using intelligent analytics systems.
  • Design and maintain integrations with the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
  • Act as a technical lead, mentoring engineers and defining best practices.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, SRE, and operations teams to ensure consistent automation strategy and execution.

Technical skills:

ServiceNow

  • Strong expertise in ServiceNow ITOM (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management).
  • CMDB architecture, CI relationships, reconciliation, and data quality management.
  • ServiceNow REST / Scripted REST APIs.
  • IntegrationHub, Flow Designer, Business Rules, Script Includes.
  • Ticket lifecycle automation (Incident, Request, Problem, Change).

Automation & Scripting

  • Python for automation, integrations, and data processing.
  • Ansible (playbooks, roles, inventories).
  • Bash / Shell scripting.
  • Experience designing and implementing auto-remediation frameworks.

Infrastructure & Platforms

  • On-prem: SCOM, Red Hat Satellite, VMware / Nutanix, Oracle OEM, Kubernetes / OpenShift.
  • Cloud & containers: AWS (EC2, RDS, EKS).

Data, Analytics & Observability

  • ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
  • Log ingestion, parsing, correlation, and visualization.
  • Data analysis, health checks, KPIs, and operational dashboards.

Integration & APIs

  • RESTful APIs (JSON, OAuth, token-based authentication).
  • Webhooks and event-driven architectures.
  • Data transformation and normalization pipelines.

Profile:

  • 7+ years of experience in IT Operations, Automation, or Observability.
  • Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow ITOM in enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience delivering automation and auto‑remediation solutions.
  • Experience integrating CMDB, monitoring tools, and ticketing systems.
  • Solid background in hybrid infrastructures (on‑prem + cloud).
  • Experience with log management and observability platforms.
  • Ability to design scalable, resilient automation architectures.
  • Experience acting as a technical lead or subject‑matter expert.
  • Nice to have:
    • ServiceNow certifications (CSA, ITOM Discovery, Event Management).
    • AWS or Kubernetes certifications.
    • Experience with AIOps or ML‑based correlation tools.
    • Knowledge of SRE principles and reliability engineering.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English is required; French is a strong asset.
