Business Analyst – (Data & Analytics / Economics Domain)

 

As a Business Analyst, you will support the Economics Department of our client. You will contribute to the management, analysis, and reporting of macroeconomic and financial datasets used across the Bank, ensuring data consistency, quality, and availability for internal analysis and publications.

This assignment offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of economics, data analytics, and financial services within a European public institution.

Assignment Context

 

The consultant will reinforce data management and analytical capacity, with a strong focus on macroeconomic and sovereign risk data, automated data processing, and reporting solutions supporting publications and internal stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

  • Data Management & Database Maintenance
  • Maintain and update the database containing macroeconomic and sovereign risk indicators
  • Curate, clean, validate, and manage datasets from international institutions, public sources, and licensed providers
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SQL queries and database views
  • Contribute to improvements in data structures, metadata, and technical documentation
  • Data Processing & Automation
  • Automate data ingestion, transformation, validation, and consistency checks using Python and SQL
  • Maintain and enhance existing data processing scripts and analytical tools
  • Use Excel for ad‑hoc analysis, validation, and data reconciliation
  • Reporting & Data Visualisation
  • Maintain and update reports and dashboards
  • Develop visualisations primarily using Power BI, as well as Excel
  • Optionally contribute using SAP Analytics Cloud, depending on skills and project needs
  • Ensure alignment between visual outputs, underlying datasets
  • Data Quality & Consistency
  • Support initiatives to improve data consistency across all services
  • Contribute to the definition and enforcement of common indicators, datasets, and definitions
  • Assist in responding to internal data requests and supporting cross‑service coordination
  • Technical Skills
  • SQL (relational databases, queries, views)
  • Python (data processing, automation, validation)
  • Excel (analysis, reconciliation, and validation)
  • Power BI (data modelling, reporting, and visualisation)

Profile

 

  • Mandatory Requirements
  • University degree in Business, Engineering, Information Science, or a related field
  • Proven experience in data analysis within a financial services institution (e.g. investment bank, retail bank, insurance)
  • Strong understanding of macroeconomic and financial data, including country‑level indicators and sovereign risk concepts
  • Demonstrated experience in data curation and data management
  • Advanced working knowledge of SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and data storytelling skills
  • Nice to Have
  • Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud, STATA, and/or R
  • Familiarity with data quality frameworks and metadata management
  • Experience working with international financial institutions, central banks, or similar organisations
