Cloud & Application Architect

As member of the architecture and engineering team, you will be responsible for defining, designing, and governing the target architecture. You will ensure the platform is secure, scalable, modular, cloud‑native, and fully aligned with enterprise principles, security standards, and project objectives. You will collaborate closely with the Project Manager, internal specialists, and external development partners.

 

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the target cloud architecture
  • Ensure compliance with approved Architecture Principles and the Architecture Document.
  • Design modular application architecture (modular monolith with defined boundaries).
  • Define extensibility mechanisms for multiple survey types.
  • Define the API architecture (OpenAPI-based, REST, API Gateway integration).
  • Design the asynchronous processing architecture using Kafka/event-driven workflows.
  • Ensure secure separation between public and administrative components.
  • Design the Kubernetes-based deployment architecture.
  • Define containerisation standards and CI/CD integration patterns.
  • Define the Infrastructure-as-Code approach.
  • Define the observability architecture (logging, metrics, tracing).
  • Establish patterns for resiliencescalability, and high availability.
  • Integrate security‑by‑design and privacy‑by‑design principles.
  • Define architecture supporting audit logging, traceability, retention, and deletion workflows.
  • Ensure open‑source compliance and respect of portability constraints.
  • Act as technical interface between Project Manager, internal teams, and external developers.
  • Review architectural deliverables from suppliers.
  • Participate in architecture boards and technical working groups.
  • Contribute to procurement technical specifications.
  • Produce and maintain architecture documentation.
  • Support design reviews, testing, validation, security/data protection reviews, pilot onboarding, and Go/No‑Go preparation.

Technical skills

Mandatory Technical Skills

  • Very good knowledge of cloud‑native architecture patterns.
  • Very good knowledge of Kubernetes-based deployment.
  • Very good knowledge of microservices and modular monolith architectures.
  • Very good knowledge of Spring 6 / Spring Boot 3.
  • Good knowledge of event-driven architectures (Kafka or equivalent).

Additional Technical Skills

  • Good knowledge of API design (OpenAPI, REST, API Gateway integration).
  • Good knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Good knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Good knowledge of Infrastructure‑as‑Code concepts.
  • Good knowledge of Agile methodologies (SCRUM).

Open‑Source & Compliance

  • Knowledge of open‑source licensing concepts.
  • Awareness of dependency management and SBOM practices.
  • Experience with open‑source compliance tools is a strong asset.

Security & Governance

  • Knowledge of secure application design principles.
  • Understanding of authentication and authorisation standards (OIDC, SAML).
  • Understanding of audit logging and data lifecycle management.

Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective, actionable solutions.
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to apply high quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain architecture to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in multicultural environments.
  • Fluency in English is required; French is a strong asset.
