We are currently looking for a Senior Policy Writer - Digital & Quantum Technologies to strengthen the Cronos Europa team.
Responsibilities
- Definition of editorial and style guidelines for the Quantum Act, roadmaps, Sria annexes and related documents, in line with drafting rules and corporate identity
- Preparation of consolidated and aligned working versions of draft legal, policy and technical documents (Act, roadmaps, Sria annexes, guidance, etc.), ensuring internal consistency, correct cross-referencing and Version Control
- Management of document versioning (change logs, comparison tables, clean and track-changes versions) and support to the coordination of comments and inputs from services and stakeholders
- Development and maintenance of FAQs, Q&A, explanatory notes, guidance documents and other supporting material for internal and external audiences
- Coordination and review of written contributions from different services and stakeholders to ensure coherence in terminology, structure, style and messaging
- Reporting of progress on the corpus of documents (status lists, editorial calendars, overview tables of versions and pending actions)
- Assistance with the drafting and editing of briefings, speaking points, key messages and other material for high-level meetings and public communication
- Support to the preparation and editorial quality control of documents for interservice consultation, Regulatory Scrutiny Board, College, Council/Parliament negotiations and publication (proofreading, formatting, compliance with templates)
- Interaction with policy officers, legal services, communication units, and external experts to clarify content, agree editorial solutions and collect/implement feedback
- Assistance with knowledge management for the file (document libraries, naming conventions, archiving, alignment between ARES, SharePoint and other repositories)
Technical skills
- Knowledge of EU policy-making and legislative drafting processes, especially in digital and emerging technologies
- Strong understanding of editorial standards and style for legal, policy, and technical documents, including structure, plain language, terminology consistency, and cross-referencing
- Skilled in document Version Control and management, coordinating inputs and comments across multiple services or stakeholders
- Ability to analyze complex technical and legal content and synthesize it into clear, structured, accessible outputs for diverse audiences
- Proficient in MS Office (Word - advanced functions, templates, track changes; PowerPoint; Excel) and collaboration platforms (SharePoint, Teams or equivalent)
- Ability to maintain high editorial quality under tight deadlines and manage multiple documents simultaneously
- Familiarity with EU Better Regulation principles, interservice consultation processes, and impact assessment practices is an asset
Profile
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Eqf Level 6)
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in drafting, editing, and reviewing policy, legal, or technical documents in an EU or international context
- Demonstrated experience in editing complex multi-author documents (e.g., legal acts, delegated/implementing acts, strategies, roadmaps, Srias, guidelines, impact assessments)
- Proven experience in preparing support materials for internal and external stakeholders (FAQs, Q&A, guidance documents, briefings, key messages)
- English fluent
- French is a plus
