Elastic Search Engineer

We are currently looking for an Elastic Search Engineer to strengthen the Cronos Europa team. As a member of the infrastructure and operations team, you will act as a Technical Lead to drive observability transformation initiatives. You will be responsible for designing and implementing enterprise-wide monitoring and observability solutions, leading legacy platform migrations, and defining governance standards to ensure scalability, reliability, and operational excellence across the IT ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement enterprise observability solutions covering logs, metrics, traces, and synthetic monitoring.
  • Lead the migration of legacy monitoring platforms, including Splunk and Newtest/Ekara, towards modern observability tools.
  • Define and maintain target observability architectures based on Elastic Stack and related technologies.
  • Establish monitoring standards, governance frameworks, and performance KPIs across the organization.
  • Create and manage dashboards to provide visibility into application performance, availability, latency, and error rates.
  • Implement distributed tracing and performance monitoring capabilities for microservices and API-based architectures.
  • Deploy anomaly detection and intelligent correlation mechanisms to proactively identify incidents and performance degradations.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and development teams to integrate Observability-as-Code and performance monitoring into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Define alerting strategies, root-cause analysis processes, and incident detection best practices.
  • Ensure security, governance, and lifecycle management of the observability platform.

Technical skills:

  • Strong expertise with Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), including clustering, data tiering, RBAC security, and lifecycle management (ILM).
  • Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK Stack.
  • Experience leading Splunk-to-Elastic migration projects.
  • Knowledge of synthetic monitoring solutions and automated end-user journey testing.
  • Experience with Playwright and TypeScript is considered a strong asset.
  • Good understanding of distributed tracing, APM solutions, and modern observability concepts.
  • Experience deploying monitoring solutions in cloud and microservices environments (AWS and/or Azure).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python and/or Bash.
  • Experience integrating monitoring and observability components into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins).
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker environments.
  • Experience with machine learning-based anomaly detection and data correlation is an advantage.

Profile:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Observability Engineering, Monitoring Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex performance issues.
  • Proven experience designing enterprise-scale monitoring and observability architectures.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive technical transformation initiatives and mentor technical teams.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in complex environments.
  • Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving and continuous improvement capabilities.
  • Relevant certifications in Dynatrace, Cloud Monitoring, Elastic, or Performance Testing are considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory. French is considered a strong asset.
