Our client (Space sector) is looking for a Senior Linux System Engineer to join their infrastructure team. This role is ideal for someone with strong Linux system administration experience, who is comfortable working across various distributions and enjoys both operational and project-based responsibilities.
Contract Type: Permanent - inhouse - Luxembourg
Your responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Linux-based systems (primarily RHEL and Rocky Linux, with some Ubuntu)
- Perform regular VMware operations (e.g., VM creation and management)
- Manage virtual machines hosted on cloud providers (no direct Azure/AWS/GCP operations)
- Participate in both run (daily operations) and build (projects and improvements) activities
- Ensure system reliability, performance, and security across the infrastructure
- Coach and support junior system administrators
- Occasionally participate in off-hours maintenance or installations (compensated for via time off or additional pay)
Your first 6 months
- Gain a deep understanding of the existing infrastructure
- Become fully operational and autonomous in managing systems and supporting the team
Required skills for this role
- You have at least 10 years of experience as a Linux System Engineer
- You are comfortable switching between these distributions: RHEL, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu.
- You are used to working within big infrastructure environments.
- You have solid experience with VMware
- You are familiar with systems running on cloud-hosted VMs.
- You have strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
- You have experience mentoring or coaching junior colleagues.
