The mission of the Facilities Management sector consists of managing the facilities (server rooms and technical rooms) that are used
- Applied the common standards defined for European Parliament ICT facilities
- Addition and removal of material including the inventory update in both cases
- New material installation supervision (racking, cabling, electricity redundancy tests)
- Server and technical room management (infrastructure evolution, upgrade or modification)
- Stock management (cables, spare kits, IT equipment awaiting installation)
- In the context of infrastructure projects supervision of all technical installations
- Supervision of the implementation of IT related solutions (GPS antennas, temperature probes, monitoring solutions, etc.)
- Creation and update of necessary management documents (content and placement of racks and IT equipment, temperature and consumption per rack/corridor, etc.)
- Responsible for personnel safety in the IT rooms and technical premises
- Overall operation facilities management
Typical task list
This task list is not exhaustive, but gives an indication of typical tasks. The team tasks should include also all related tasks that arise in the future.
Day to day
- Bi-annual stock control (network patch, power cords, optical patch, spare kits, etc.)
- Bi-annual Hardware inventory
- Annual Hardware inventory (in stock, in IT rooms or under clearance procedure, etc.)
- Restocking
- Infrastructure and Hardware incident management
- Hardware clearance procedure management
- Asset management
- Technological monitoring
- Any other relevant activity related to daily ICT facility management
Perimeter of activity
As a member of team of 4 persons your manage the 2 main Datacentres in Luxembourg and Belgium, one major Computer room at Luxembourg and the rest of the IT / Computer and Network rooms at Luxembourg, Brussels and Strasbourg
This position is daily located in Luxembourg but you will be brought to intervene in Strasbourg and occasionally in Brussels
Hosting equipment of the following technologies : Backup, Exchange, Facilities, Network, Security, Storage, UC Mail, Unix, VMware, Windows and others.
Education: Graduate diploma as DUT, BTS or equivalent is required
Profile experience: Candidate should justify a year of personal experience in a similar function
Required skills
- Reporting tools as MS Excel, MS Word
- Standard IT as optical, network, energy, cooling
- Equipment inventory follows and IT cycle of life management (Asset Management)
- General datacentre mechanism and all its critical points of failure
Optional skills
- General fire process and protection
- Design tools as AutoCAD and MS Visio
- ITIL, Incident & Service Management certification
- Languages: English and French fluent
