Getronics Belgium - Storage Engineer

Getronics Luxembourg is looking for a full time Storage Engineer for one of our clients, a European institution, based in Kirchberg.

 

 

Among your responsibilities you will find

  • Support acquisition, installation, maintenance, and administration of large enterprise SAN environment.
  • Troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis and identify Storage related problems
  • Allocate SAN Storage to servers and provide system security and access
  • Use SAN management tools to analyze performance and identify bottlenecks or slowdowns and take appropriate action to resolve              
  • Plan, coordinate and upgrade components of the SAN as needed with software, Hardware and microcode upgrades, etc. Work with vendors as needed in this proces
  • Accountable for SAN capacity planning and growth projection
  • Participate in worldwide collaboration to share on engineering efforts, technical challenges and breakthroughs
  • Participate in 24/7 oncall rotation, major incidents and reviews (postmorterms)
  • Work with vendors and team members to troubleshoot issues related to the operations (Problem management)
  • Ensure assets are updated promptly in CMDB (Asset Management)
  • Ensure all changes to systems are recorded and properly executed with approval (Change Management)
  • Review the performance of systems and plan for technological refresh and cater for future expansion (Capacity Management)
  • Participate in Business Continuity Planning and DR strategy including documenting of DR procedures, and executing DR drills

 

Organisational skills

  • Acts as a subject matter expert and expertly articulates solutions through written or verbal methods
  • Trouble shoots complex problems quickly and effectively
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation,
  • Evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for

    the systems

  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept,
  • design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints

  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into Hardware and software specifications
  • Resistance to stress, discreet
  • Team spirit, excellent communication skills
  • Very good level of French and English is required
  • At least 7 years of experience in a similar role

 

Technical skills

  • Mandatory: 
    • HP (EVAs, 3 PAR)
    • Hitachi (VSPs, HUSVM)
    • Experience with Brocade switch (DCXs) && Cisco SAN Switch configuration and support such as Virtual SAN, Fiber channel zoning, LUN masking, HBA configuration and tuning
    • Tiering, deduplication, compression, thin prov, density IO, Storage management, strong knowledge in replication, DRP, data retention, archiving etc
  • Desired:
    • Linux/Unix
    • Scripting skills (KSH, bach, Perl, Python)
