We are seeking an experienced Firewall Architect to join our team under a managed services contract for the European Institution. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in network and security, and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing network security solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and Implementation: Develop and implement robust network security architectures, focusing on Firewalls to protect against cyber threats. This includes selecting appropriate Firewall technologies and configuring them to meet security requirements
- Firewall Management: Oversee the day-to-day management and optimization of Firewall configurations to ensure they provide maximum protection. This includes monitoring Firewall performance, troubleshooting issues, and applying updates and patches
- Integration: Work closely with network and security teams to integrate Firewall solutions into the existing infrastructure. Ensure seamless operation and compatibility with other security measures such as intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and data loss prevention (DLP) solutions
- Security Audits: Conduct regular security audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security policies and standards. Propose and implement improvements based on audit findings
- Incident Response: Participate in the incident response process by analyzing security incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of Firewall configurations, policies, and procedures. Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to other team members and stakeholders on Firewall management and best practices. This includes developing training materials and conducting training sessions
- Technology Watch: Stay informed about the latest developments in Firewall technologies and cybersecurity threats. Evaluate new technologies and recommend their adoption to enhance the organization's security posture
Required skills
- Proven experience as a Firewall Architect or in a similar role
- Excellent knowledge of Firewall technologies (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, etc.)
- Strong skills in networking (LAN, WAN, VPN, etc.) and security (IDS/IPS, DLP, etc.)
- Ability to work in a managed services environment with strict security requirements
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential
- Holder of relevant network and security certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, etc.)
- European citizenship is mandatory
- Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Experience working in an international environment is a plus
