The Database Administrator is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, security and availability of the organization's database environments. The role involves managing daily operations, handling incidents, implementing changes and maintaining high service quality for customers. The Database Administrator works autonomously or collaboratively with colleagues to support business-critical applications.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day database operations, ensuring stability and performance.
- Handle service requests, incident resolution and implementation of changes.
- Install, configure and maintain database system software to support business operations.
- Perform and manage database migrations to Oracle 19C.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and optimize database efficiency.
- Execute database refreshes as required by business needs.
- Ensure database security through proper access control and permission management.
- Manage backup and recovery of databases using Oracle RMAN, ensuring full disaster recovery capability.
- Configure and administer Oracle High Availability solutions using RAC & Data Guard.
- Propose and implement improvements for database maintenance, reliability, performance and security.
Required skills & qualifications
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator with Oracle databases.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle 19C and experience with database migrations.
- Expertise in backup and recovery strategies (RMAN).
- Experience with Oracle RAC for scalability, high availability and disaster recovery.
- Good understanding of database security, roles and permissions.
- Ability to analyse and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (incidents, requests, changes) is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
- Fluent in English, French is an asset.
- 6 years of similar experience and a bachelor degree in IT.
Nice-to-have skills:
- Knowledge of automation tools and scripting for database administration.
- Exposure to Virtualization or cloud environments.
Work conditions
- Full-time position on-site (1 Homeworking day /W) or full off-site position (to decide)
- Participation in on-call or standby duties as required for critical systems support.
